    Are you happy with vista?

If so then post why? If not then post why?

I am happy with it. Because I have no problem. It is pre-installed on my new laptop. And I have no problems with it. Its fast and almost same as XP for me :).

    What about you?

    Hi,
Even am quite happy with vista. Apart from having a great look it has several great performance & security related features and more control over the internet, installation & virus. I have Vista Home Premium.

One of my favorite things about Vista so far (I'm running RC2) is the search in the start menu.

When I first started using the search feature, I found it incredibly difficult to find programs I had installed. Before long, it wasn't half a second that I could click start, type "word" and press enter to have Word 2007 (great upgrade!) open for me.

The next time I hopped back to XP, I had to stop and think about how to use the "All Programs" link, because the search just makes so much more sense than trying to organize your "All Programs" folder constantly.

Ilove it more than anything :p

When I started using it I had a few problems but I just fixed them one by one and now my machine runs so damn sweet!

I love the security even with a LAN.

I know not everyone will agree but I love the performance of Vista too.

I was afraid to go to vista because the media keeps publicizing problems and glitches. That was a while back though, so I'm thinking about upgrading soon. it takes a lot of space, so I'm convincing myself I need a computer that will accommodate that :).

I just installed it today on a TriBoot with XP and Kubuntu. It works great so far, a few issues with the bootloader, but easy enough to sort out. I still prefer XP (just more familiar with it), but Vista has some nifty features (Start Search for example).

From an I.T. point of view it has come benefits and some drawbacks. For people like me who like getting used to doing something a certain way new 'improvements' in programs can just be a pain 'bells and whistles'. It means more work when setting up new users i.e. having to diagnose a new set of problems. Opening explore seems a pain as it does not centre the same as XP. Probably can be tweaked its just the learning curve that is a pain.

    Yes I am.
The look and feel is much better.
Also, vista is more secure, and faster than its previous versions.

Probably the only thing I notice is that the bootup time is somewhat slower than XP. But once its up, its awesome. I usually never shutdown my PCs at work and they have been up now for about 3 months without error. RAM usage is better distributed which is a huge benefit over XP.

After the SP1 my vista office 64bit is going better, but I think there is room for truckload more optimization and compatibility.
Overall is not bad, but 64bit drivers are a PITA.....
