Staying with it. The $130 is not expensive, and it's the still the best forum software (by far). Not sure why anyone would want to switch to IPB... especially if it's based on the price (IPB is more expensive). Their current pricing is $249.99 for the Suite *plus* $50/year (there is no longer any annual costs for upgrades/support for vBulletin).

Not only that, IPB is discontinuing their Suite product in a week. So you will need to buy everything separately now (starting then) and each module has an annual cost. So starting in a week, you get to pay $264.97 *plus* $100/year for the equiv. of the Suite (forum, gallery and blog).

So explain to me why you want to pay more for something that isn't as good? Maybe I'm missing something? :)

I have a question. Last time i owned a forum was almost 2 years ago and my leased license (Yes i got the leased one) expires in Jan 2010.

Does this mean i would have to pay $130 to get V4? I'm not ready to create a new forum but i will sometime next year and might as well get the license thing sorted out now. (The $$$ does not matter to me)

I believe you have to have an active license for the discount. So if your license from two years ago is still active then yes, you can upgrade for $130.

I will stick with old version till there is no security related issue. If there is any security hole and VB is not providing any patch, I will either upgrade or shift to any free script.

It's not that expensive. If it was $1000 maybe I would have switched to another(phpbb not!), but it's $195 and thats $15 more than before for the forum. I don't need the suite.

I'll stick with vbulletin, it's the best forum software with the best free mods..

Mind you, I don't really like the vb4 default theme, but I'm sure many great vb4 themes will be released in the near future.

I'm hope the designer i used the last time i got a custom theme made still does custom VB designs next year when i contact him. Lot's of new features in the new version which means more work. lol

I'll have to check out his website in a few month's when i'm ready for one.
