I'm glad someone finally called out this silly hype for what it is :)

Heh that's funny. That is what I call a "word salad" sticking it in a <ol> just itemizes the bullshit for me.

Just keep in mind that is what they may have intended as the result here. You have to be careful not to give those douchebags any cred by talking about it.

    Hello,

Nigel, just to add to your comment about "word salad", which I think is related to the original post.

I always found that the term "inbound marketing" was similarly odd to me. Inbound marketing as it was dubbed by Hubspot is about taking Content Marketing, Website Optimization and Social Media Marketing...having your content where clients browse, to be there when they want you...and then adding a CRM.

If anything I think inbound marketing is actually missing the "local marketing" as part of the definition.

Do we really need to call this "inbound marketing"? It's just all online marketing (aka web marketing or digital marketing or Internet marketing). It's about posting content on the web that has a shelf life of years vs. advertising.

Isn't it? Do we need another word salad term for what is part of an existing umbrella?

The growth hacking points do still have some leverage, though. It may be nothing new for more experienced marketers, but it may be a good summary for what new promoters can expect. Still, we all have to stay current.
