I bought it for one of my companies because we do software development and needed to determine compatibility. Our software ran fine, but I had *big* problems with other stuff. The machine is 4 months old, Intel Dual Core with 2 G of RAM. It still ran noticeably slower. More important, at least 12 times a day, I had to give permission to let programs do what they need to by clicking "ok... let it do this or that". Worse, is that I'd also check "do not ask in the future" but it still asked the same damn thing about the same damn program every time I ran it. Then Vista complained that drivers for Roxio DLA were incompatible, on every re-start. So I removed all Roxio stuff, except for DLA because Vista would not let me remove it. So, I couldn't remove the incompatible driver and had to deal with these garbage messages constantly. I wiped my hard drive and re-installed XP Pro. /*tom*/
I have a buddy that uses Vista doing circuit board designs for a large company and he told me today that he had better luck running Win 95 and having all of his programs work. I for one am going to wait a year or two. XP Pro doesn't crash and it runs all of my programs just fine.
I tried the beta and hated it. Maybe the beta was just unstable, I don't know. I'd be interested to use the final product though.
i dont think im gonna buy it atm. will probably wait a few months until its cheaper, besides my computer cant run it atm and it will be a huge effort to get a new one and transfer all my work etc.
Vista is not really all that great, i could get my computer style too look like vista and i can get all the programs vista has ... vista ... what a joke.
I have Media center right now and it looks better than XP lolzzzz and will buy vista from college after 2 month, when it will be like only 50 bucks for me with my ID lolzzz
NO WAY - everything I have is working perfectly and my pc is more than adequate for my needs now for the next few years.
I already have vista installed and working....it is great and a step forwards. It takes a while to learn and get used to new functions. I still have XP on my other machine cheers
I would wait till at least the 2nd or 3rd update before buying vista. Microsoft is infamous for releasing software that are not 'quite' bug free and then release fixes.
Yes, Vista looks great. It probably has a ton of bugs though. They had a lot of bugs on the xbox360 so im assuming there'd be bugs on the new system. Mike
maybe... but I think I'll wait! I bought office 2007 and its a trouble! no one has it except me, and I have to convert files back to 97-2003 version every time! its so distracting
