My current list is too small to be of interest to anyone, and I don't think I would feel comfortable giving out the info anyway. I have gone that route before though. I worked for years in online gaming and built a database of about 5 million players. I had complete info, not just email address, and I did sell that data (included in the sale of my overall business) when I left the industry. I would try to send to it now just to see what happens, but it's so old now that 99.99% would bounce, and that's a pretty heavy server load.
For me as a specialist that doesn't seem to be a good idea to buy somebody's list. Because it would be unrelevant anyway. Even if we are talking about the same niche. For me it seems to be more effective to collect the own list, then to have a half-passive list with lots of unrelevant users inside. That is waste of money, i think. Email marketing is a good instrument, working together with SEO and PPC. SEO and PPC creates traffic and conversions and builds our mail list. Email marketing works with this relevant list and bring extra conversions. The same thing with SMM. Using such pattern you don`t need to buy email lists/
It looks like the importance of e-mail marketing is dropping, because of Social Media marketing. Younger generation considers e-mails old-fashioned, many people have worked out a sort of immunity to marketing e-mails if they aren't about something very specific and targeted in a really cool way.
I see what your saying, but totally disagree. I saw something similar said a while back. Yes social media marketing is huge, but email marketing is as big as ever! I suppose it depends what niche you are focusing on. In my opinion you can make money from email marketing in any niche, but some more than others I suppose. Make money online niche is booming when it comes to email marketing, look at any successful internet marketer, ask them whats there number 1 source of income and I can pretty much guarantee that 95% will say from their email lists. But the majority of money wont come from the freebie seekers who join lists to grab a freebie. It will be from creating their own digital products, launching them and adding the products buyers to their email lists. Imagine what 2000 proven buyers on your email list are worth? I have a friend who launched his very first product a few months back, made 700 front end sales = 700 subscribers to his list. He spent the next 2 weeks building a relationship with that list and providing value in his emails, he then promoted an offer to his list and made $4000 in one day, he went on to make another $10,000 that next week. That is damn good if you ask me, especially for a complete newbie! Not many other methods, if any can return that kind of money for a new starter! I check my emails every single day, I dont know many people online who dont! I cant see email marketing going anywhere just yet.
You're right, it depends much on niche, even on the targeted audience age. I don't work much with e-mail marketing (our team has a special person for that), but what i witness is a boom of social media, especially FB marketing. The growth is immense!
Hi what an email address means is communication , so only time will tell how important the email address is going to be Cheers
It remains my preferred method of communication. I'll take an email over a phone call or text any day.
People don't buy right from Social Media. Its still a social area not shopping center. Too much attention grabing stuff on social media. Video, pics, posts and more. Social Media can be good for driving traffic. But the sales are mostly made after that using email marketing.
Of course i'm doing it but i am not using mailchimp, aweber and alike anymore. I'm using a script which is controlled by little me. If they decide that they don't want you anymore you are stuck (which happened to me by the way) so it's a pain to transfer all of your list and you will loose LOTS of emails in the transfer process TRUST ME ON THIS ONE (arghhhhhh) Use rapidmailer for instance. It works with wordpress. Just make sure to tell the people that optin in to whitelist your domain/email as your mailings will probably wind up into their spam folder all the time As for rapidmailer, it's awesome ! I am currently using this script everywhere on every sites. no-reflink http://imscrapidmailer.com ref-link http://imscrapidmailer.com/?hop=aneworder
I am greatly confused. SEO provides you a great way to build your list, so therefore there is no added cost to building your list, except the autoresponder. Secondly, if you email properly, your list may decrease slowly in size, but your core audience stays. Someone who comes to my site via SEO is often gone forever after a visit or two. Retention via an email list is tremendously higher than retention of an SEO visitor.
Mr. Davidja, Some people are suffering to get a leads, and you have ... all you have to do is sale the leads- I implore you not to waste it. Visit some crowd funding platforms. Example here : here is a driving and texting app that is just launching -is called: Vennoott - you can call up the company and do business with them - if your leads matches theirs... etc
SEO is just a method of getting more leads to your page, and from there, they opt-in. BUILD A LIST GUYS!
A list is great, so good advice in this forum thread, and I have implemented this now onto my website. My only bit of advice would be to make sure you're able to do one of the two following things, which may increase your conversion rates. 1) Make sure you have validation on your email address collection field, 500 false emails will result in nothing. 2) If you can not implement appropriate validation, then learn how to filter and sort data, so you can remove the rubbish. A correct email list is great, and valued a lot more than one which is half ok, and half bad.
Well i would disagree on Email marketing since most Email round up in spam folder. If you are trusted only then you can advertise via email marketing since you will be added to the trusted list.
I used to agree with you mate, but I work for a gambling promoter (don't question the ethics of the job, it's the only job I could find at the time). Upon working for them, and seeing the real results of all marketing they do, through email, sms, telephone and onsite, I can confidently confirm that your statement is completely wrong. I guess to some extent the companies are marked as spam or trash, and some come up as trusted, but either way the results are impressive. Get the right tag line, and it's irrelivant where your email ends up. We all check our junk/spam to clear it out, and if you're selling what your audience is interested in, you will see real results, and a significant difference between doing email marketing and not doing it.
@Sycrid It only emphasizes on the importance of getting your first few emails right. Be authentic and you won't end up in the spam folder. If you push products like all the other marketers, you'll end up like the rest of the 70%.
@Ethan Alvin Yeah you're right with that. Good comment. I imagine that if you're able to do something quite unique that is good, you'd be a regular part of the inbox. Anyway we both agree, email marketing can work very well.
Thank you for the information, very helpful. I started my blog the 1st of this month and only have a list of 70 emails, but it seems once you get going it builds a little faster for some reason. I hear the first 100 is the hardest to reach. Also, for whatever reason I have more success with a 2 step subscription process. People seem more likely to click on a subscription link and enter their email address instead of just entering their email. Seems odd.
I just though of this while reading the comments. Another way to build a list of buyer's list without launching your own product is to give bonuses to those who buy from your affiliate link. The buyers to receive your bonuse(s) have to optin into your squeeze page that will automatically deliver the bonus or you can do it manually. Hit like if you this idea!
I'm looking for a self hosted autoresponder. I did look into Rapidmailer but there are many people complaining about it. Are there better alternatives out there?
