Hi, If you own a forum and have a few members are you allowed to send out emails to these members? Or is this classed as spam? Would you have to talk about the forum, or could you talk about the topic that your forum is about? Thanks for any help
I would set up a form so when they register they can say yes or no to news letters, but I think if they have left on recive email from admins you can go ahead an do it. If you get any negative feed back you can always say sorry an remove there name from the list. Try making a sticky post in one of the areas you have that gets lots of OT trafic saying look this is what i am planning who wants in an who wants out.
When members register on a forum, most of the time they will have a check box "receive email from the site admin", or check boxes for news letters. Its up to them to uncheck or check those boxes. But if you send out newsletters or other emails, you always want to include unsubscribe information.
Exactly, always make sure you include an option for them unsubscribe. I normally have a dedicated email address for this and tell people send an email to it if they want to unsubscribe.
You can use Feedburner to manage your forum newsletter. There is an option in Feedburner in which your forum members can opt out in the list anytime they want.
