Are you allowed to 'cheat' the adsense keyword system?

    Hi folks,

Just a little background. I'm a newbie here as you can see. All the best advice people seem to get comes from this forum, so that's why I've joined. I've only been blogging for a month now so alot of this seo, adsense, etc etc, is new to me.

I only have one small adsense ad as I don't think there is much point bombarding my few visitors with adds all over the place. I'm only getting an average of 100 page views each day at the moment.

The ads I'm getting up through adsense are very low paying because of the main topics on my blog (it's a personal blog), but is there a code you can insert around the adsense code where you can put in another keyword to change what comes up in the ads?

    Thanks!

    NO..

You can use section-targeting, which is a code that you can put around your content to focus the ad-targeting, but you can't really directly control or force the ads.

You can't add a code around the adsense code to change the ads to higher paying keywords. You can make use of section targeting as mentioned in the previous post. If you want to filter out low paying keywords, go to www.adsblacklist.com & add their list to your competitive ad filter list. That might help a tiny bit.

Ok, so how do I use 'section targeting' in a wordpress blog? Is there code or a plugin?

It's a plug-in that you can find how to use and download at MaxPower

Not sure if there is much point to it, it is useful only if ads are missing topic of your website, off-topic ads will have even lower CTR and will in long run make even less money then having on topic less paying ads.

If your content relates only to segments that aren't competitive you may be out of luck. If you can shift your content say from a topic like Thylacines to travel that might include searching for Thylacines than you might get a better ad mix.

(Hey, how many people north of Launceston know about tigers?)
