There seem to be roughly equal numbers of people who recommend blending adSense into web pages to such an extent that it appears to be part of the content, and those who counsel making the ads as brash as possible in order to make them stand out. And we all have our phenomenal success stories to tell about how we changed one thing about the colours and layout etc, but I’ve been wondering which method seems to work best when you have so-called “adblind†users? Which would you recommend, Blending or Blinding? Btw I confess that I’m a bit of a blender myself…
Depends on the site and your visitors I guess... if you have users that have become ad blind then mixing things up and not just changing the colour and the extent to which the ads stand out but also change the size and style of the ads you are showing, just so that ad sections on your site are always make the pages slightly different. I honestly think keeping a blended ad but changing the ad unit can help remove ad blindness as much as making the ads stand out.
Blend and rotate ads seems to always work the best for me as that way there are new ads to catch their eye but blended so they dont jump out and say AD
