Are you a victim of a skimmer – credit card device.
A new menace is existing with the help of a small gadget that can copy your credit card details in a fraction of a second. Yes, a “skimmer” is a battery operated magnetic device, hardly three inches long, which can copy the details of the magnetic strip on your credit/debit card driving license to reproduce a cloned card.

In the early versions of the skimmer, credit cards had to be sniped in the gadget. Modern versions are for more sophisticated. Now, the fraudster only needs to stand within arm’s length of a card being swiped to copy all the details without ever touching the victim’s card .

Did you ever experience such a new type of fraud? What do you have to say about the above mentioned issue.

I remember not to long ago when you used a credit card the clerk would verify your signature. Then they moved to the little electronic swipe screens and that bothered me to the point of rarely using my card and constantly checking my wallet. Now they have those pay & pass things where you put your Credit Card on your keychain and the clerk does not even need to see your face.

I started to just use my check book now to pay for things, but that's nearly just as bad. More and more places are not accepting them, and those that do no longer need you to sign them, just pass over the blank check so they can run it though the machine to have it automatically deducted and voided.

So no, I'm not a victim of skimmers, in fact, I don't really think anyone is. Those that think they are, IMHO, are victims of the Credit Card companies who push their wares in an unsafe fashion.

These days, people are using different strategies to take advantage of other people's property. You can try using Scam Search to find these skimmers or scammers.
