Are you a vegetarian?

  1. Yes, the slightest smell of meat is anathema to me.

My sister is a vegetarian and has been for ... um... probably about 25 years now I guess.

My husband is a pescatarian (sp?) which means he eats seafood and vegetarian. But he doesn't actually like vegetables much, which makes it a bit difficult.

We were totally vegetarian for a while, and I'd like to get back to that. I certainly felt a lot healthier, energetic and less weighed down. We hardly ever got sick. I felt much better mentally and emotionally too. My problem is that I love the smell and taste of real unprocessed type meat (chicken, beef etc). And I don't really enthusiastically enjoy vegetables, though I don't actually hate many of them. And I really don't like tofu or vegetarian substitute type things, like fake sausages etc- I don't like those kind of things in real meat, so still don't like them in vegetarian substitutes. I like pasta, but there's only so much of that you can have. My husband doesn't eat any kind of soups or stew/casserole things, so that's basically out most of the time- I can't usually be bothered doing it just for myself.

I don't eat a lot of meat- maybe once every week or two- but have seafood now and then like my husband. My 13 year old son adores meat.

Ideally I'd like to try going totally vegetarian again, which would mean I wouldn't want to be cooking meat for my son (and he would object loudly!) or seafood for my husband (he would probably be ok with trying to go veg again) or I might give into the temptation. Also, a lot of my reason for wanting to be a vegetarian is that I don't want animals to have to die (after living in horrific conditions in most cases) so that I can eat meat. So, if I can succeed, I don't want to buy any more "dead carcasses" and have them in my fridge, or cook them. When we go to the supermarket meat section, or pass a butcher shop, my husband always calls it "The Morgue" and talks about the decomposing carcasses, autopsied remains etc.

Col/Cheap SEO Services... you're in Oz too aren't you (what city/area?)? Any recommendation of good stuff to try that we can get here? Congrats on your new eating change! And weight loss. With your raw food, do you use only organic too, or haven't you worried about it to that extent? Pity it's so expensive! I know some people who are into the raw food thing.

Do any of the vegetarians have any suggestions for good recipes that might be worth trying out on my husband and son? Or good sites with these on? Any ideas appreciated.
