Are You A 'Pure' Non-Vegetarian ?

It just came in my mind. Many of the Hindus (people following Hinduism, a popular religion in India) are vegetarian by habit, they kind of carry it forward as their ancestral legacy. Even if some of them eats meat, they would most probably not eat beef cause of religious reasons.

In the same way Muslims will have all kinds of meat, but they wont have pork, again for religious reasons.

Talking in general, even if you love non veg food, the idea of eating a dog, a cat or any animal that serves as pet would sound unacceptable to most of us.

Fish, which makes part of one of the most popular non veg recipe, would be generally eaten by everyone, but think about a person, who is a non veggie, but has an aquarium at home. Would he be able to eat that ?

Now if look at above points, they are not universal facts. Beef is very popular all over the world, and my international friends often ask me why I wont have it, for them it sounds tasty. Same is for the non Muslims, they would love pork. With no offense to Chinese friends, I have heard and seen in some documentaries that they really like to experiments with food, and would eat anything from ants eggs, to some of the popular pets. The idea of having the pets as your meal would be highly acceptable to most of the people from
Europe and West, as I have noticed that they are very much attached to them, and treat them as their family members.

Just this thought that came in my mind, are our eating habits somewhere related with our compassion and sensibilities ?

I am a pure non-vegetarian (I eat bacon and beef).

It was an interestingly phrased question.

hmm.. alright, if you are just into the question, then what about other stuff? Given an opportunity, would you like to eat a dog's meat, or any other popular pet's meat for that matter, if it is served by someone who is fine with having it?

Knowing that its a pet's meat, would it be fine with you to give it a try ?

Men are meant to be omnivores. They eat both flesh and veggies.

Hindus- > It is true to an extent that Hindus don't eat beef. They worship cow as god.Actually, only a section of the Hindus don't eat Beef. Most others eat beef. Today, even those former mentioned sects eat beef.
There are states like kerala where people consume beef extensively. You won't see a cow in the streets. There are states like Gujarat where there are more cows than the actual human population.

Coming to the point, I wouldn't be comfortable eating things like you suggested. Just because I don't feel comfortable.

No, I have no desire to try dog meat or any other pet meat for that matter. Since I have my choice of foods to eat, there is no reason for me to eat things like dog.

NOT, men emerged from monkey which is a vegetarian, that is, at the time when he started eating meat he was a vegetarian, and gradually he gained characteristics of omnivores. He will lose omnivorous characteritics if he stop eating meat, so Men are not necessarly meant to be omnivorous. The same will happen if a rabbit or dear starts eating meat, its physical characteristics would change. There are even lions which are pure vegetarian, but they are trained.
Its not appreciatable to classify entire human race under omnivorous, since some of them naturally dont feel to take meat, ofcourse at present his physical characterstics is that of omnivorous.

I've never heard of a vegetarian lion, and I'm not sure how they could maintain optimum health that way, since they are carnivores. Though here's an interesting story, it's about a lioness who adopted a baby antelope, and she even nursed him/her. "The oryx would normally represent a tasty meal to a lion, but this is not the first time the lioness has placed a calf under her protection." BBC News

No I am not a pure Carnivore. I do enjoy Salads occasionally, sure a few of them have Steak or Fried chicken on them, but I also eat other stuff like fish which I know some would consider a meat to some extent, but for some reason Fish Fridays seem to be good especially sardines or anchovies on a Pizza YUM :D

Someone better tell the monkeys that then, they have been eating the wrong stuff. Primates, especially chimpanzees, will eat any meat they get their hands on, including other primates (including you and i if the mood takes them), but smaller primates, specifically monkeys, eat insects, spiders and pretty much anything it can catch and kill. Ironically the only primate with a truely vegitarian diet is the gorrila, which could easily pull my arms off and eat them like a chicken wing. At some point they would have been at least omnivorous, if not entirely carnivorous, as they have very large canine teeth and they evolve to tear flesh, not crush vegitation.

That's not necessarily true. For it's characteristics to change there needs to be a selective pressure. So unless the environment is able to select those better suited to the new foods in some way characteristics wont change.

People who chose to eat just veg are still omnivorous because the classification is based on what their body is suited to consuming and digesting, not what they prefer to eat. In the right (or wrong) circumstances even the most hard line veggy would chow down on a steak. The same cant be said of a snail, which is an actual herbivore and hasn;t even the capacity to eat meat even if it wanted to, if it had the capacity to "want", which it hasn't.

pure meat eater is certainly bad for health (except fish eaters)
pure vegetarians may also lack certain nutrients only found in meat.

The best thing to do is...

    5% red meat
    10% poultry meat
    15% fish
    70% vegetables and fruits

    and take antioxidant supplement daily

Looks like I was not able to make my point clear. What I wanted to discuss was that most of us wont like to have pets like dogs, and cats as meat, because we love them as pets and have a feeling of compassion for them. So, its hard for us to see them killed for meat. However,we don't have same feelings for other meat sources like mutton, chicken etc.

So, what I wanted to discuss was that do you think that our eating habits, with special context to non veg food is because of our lack of compassion, and understanding towards animals ?

its all upto him, the more he uses an organ it gets developed. He stopped using his tail and he lost that, started using his brain and it got developed, so we are human beings now, the sameway the canine teeths developed when he started eating meat. It can happen reverse if he stop using those.

From wikipedia - Omnivores are species that eat both plants and animals as their primary food source. I guess you can understand the difference.

According to stOx definition, all human beings are cannibals since his body is suited to consuming and digesting human flesh.

Bear, ravens etc are omnivore, since every bear and raven takes both plants are animals. The case is different for human beings as some of them naturally dont feel to take meat, (not after reading some religeous books) . So human beings are exception here.

Scientifically, It is considered that homo sapiens are omnivorous. It doesn't matter if you eat it or not. It doesn't matter if your religion says to eat you or not.

science is not always correct, it is updated regularly, it is not a bad idea to review the conclusions made by scientists, you have your own brain to check their explanations are satisfactory or not. A tiger is a tiger, it does not matter if others call him a cat.

the reason is too much of ego, gives care only for himself and those related to him. Not at all any respect for other beings.
And also conditional love or compassion - should meet certain conditions to gain love and compassion from these people.

No evolution doesn't work like that. Things don't develop or diminish based on how much it is used. There needs to be a selective pressure. For something to develop it needs to be selected for by the environment, not just used more by the species.

In the individual things, such as muscles, will develop according to usage. But that is an acquired characteristic and acquired characteristics are not passed on because they aren't genetic. for instance, two weightlifters wont give birth to a muscly baby or a baby predisposed to being muscular.

And as a species we do eat both plants and animals. The point is vegetarianism in humans is a preference, a preference which would doubtlessly disappear according to how much food was available. Dietary classifications aren't based on what a species feels like eating, it's based on what they have evolved to eat. And vegetarians, whether they like it or not, have evolved to be omnivores.

Cannibalism isn't a dietary characteristic, it's a behavioral one. A human cannibal would still have the dietary classification of omnivore. But nice attempt at a strawman, even if it was desperate and obvious.

What they feel like eating is insignificant because our dietary classification is based on what we, as a species, have evolved to consume.

so you say its pressure by the environment caused brain to expand?

Already told that everyone dont eat plants and animals.

If this is the case, the same for cannibalism, cannibalism in humans is also a preference, a preference which would doubtlessly appear according to how much food was available. So you should consider every humans are cannibals.

just dont matters here, if you consider vegetarians under meat eating category just because they can digest meat, you should also consider every humans as canibals as humans are capable to digest human flesh.

we are able to digest our own species, it does not mean we are evolved also to consume our own species.

From stone age, we all know man was a carnivore...
Some people have become veggies and there are many reasons for that.

    1. Religion.
    2. By birth - You are born in a veg. family and follow it.
    3. You just don't like Non-veg ( Just like I don't eat banana )

Its clear now. Homo sapiens are omnivores.

If i loose one leg in an accident and then claim that all human beings are one legged , will you agree ??
