    Hi There

I have just setup a poll because as a female designer I had noticed that there aren't many other female designers when compared to how many men I come across. So I thought I would do a little research in the form of a poll :)

If you are a Graphic Designer, Web Designer, SEO, or Internet Marketing consultant, please take just two mins (not even that) to take part in my poll.

You can view the poll here

    Thanks for your help

I don't think it really matters. I think creativity comes from both male and female designers and I've worked with both sexes in the past.

Can only speak from experience... designers strong in print and traditional mediums tend to have more females. I have been working in web design since 1995, and out of all the companies, I have worked at/with I have been the exclusive lone female on the team of designers.

In general, more men take to mechancial / technical things, and women tend to shy away. How many women are car savy? Or computer savy? It doesn't mean one is more talented / smarter than the other, they simply choose different mediums to express themselves.

Another (possible) aspect of this is motherhood. Once women have kids, with rare exception, they are the ones who sacrafice "work time". When technology changes every 6 months to two years, its hard to keep up. Speaking from experience... I had a baby between Action Script 2.0 and AS3.0. I was a mid-level AS programmer before... now I am outsource my coding. Where as print is print is print. Paper and printing 10 years ago might have been a lesser quality, but it doesn't change how you design today. The same rules and principals stand. A mother can easily take care of her young kids, and jump back in to the print profession a few years later.

I too have been designing/programming since 1995. I spent most of the duration working for Fortune 500 companies in Silicon Valley before the dot com bubble burst. Back then in Cali I knew more female web designers than male. Males dominated the development side (programming).

Now that I'm in Delaware and the web design euphoria has died down, it seems there are mostly only males and the females are the graphic designers.

Regardless it doesn't matter if your male, female, asexual, white, black, green, red or yellow. Creativity is faceless. :D
