Are you a camper?

My wife and I have to kids (2 and 4 years old), and we are now going to buy a camp-let. We have decided to try to be campers (for the first time in our lives).

The camp-let looks really cool: http://www.camplet.com/index.php?id=238

Do you have any experience with camping and kids, if you do, do you recommend camping?

The one we are going to buy is the Royal, the most expensive one, and it costs apx. $10.000 (we are buying it in Norway).

I thought that you meant camping in video games. That shows you just how game obsessed my mind is!

$10,000 is a little pricey. I guess with the low dollar is runs the price up.

Why don't you try a family sized tent for a couple of short weekend trips?

Make sure they are ok with any allergies.
I have a lot of allergies and that halts camping efforts.

Would you consider separate tents for you and your kids? That is depending on how old they are. I know normally kids enjoy having their own tent to stay in.

My wife want the camp-let, and I can't stop her :)

There are separate bedrooms, but I guess one will be for my wife and my daughter and one will be for me and my son, at least for a year or two :)

My kids are 2 and 4 years, so we'll wait a few years before they can get a separate tent.

Yes, I have thought about that too. But my wife says that we don't need both the camp-let and a tent, and if we buy the tent first, then we'll be stuck with both :)

Nope, I'm not a camper. Never have been & never will be. Personally, I prefer being in a Hotel then being outside in the wild. Camping it soooo 1900s.....LOL

Still wouldn't convince me. I prefer to be in a decent hotel, have a nice soft bed, tv, bathroom, restaurant if I decide to eat in. That's the life. ;)

well camping became more expensive during the years :p I would call myself a camper but hotels are cool as well. you need to decide want you want camping is great if your going to use your car to get where you want to stay but if not I would prefer a hotel...

But why don't you get you a kind of van truck and make it a motor caravan/ camper on your own.
My dad got a Mercedes 690 and we converted it into a camper (and we got soft bed aand all you need in it)
don't know how much it would cost in norway but we payed arround 8000€ for it and you dont need to take a trailer with you all time during your trip. just check how much you need to spend on a used van with the size of a Mercedes Sprinter (used ones are much cheaper of course) the rest won't be that much money if your not planing to install a solar power plant for electricity ;)

I will do that, but I haven't bought the camp-let yet, so it will have to wait untill I get it :)

I think a camping truck would be great, but anything with a motor is very expensive in Norway :)

A tents only a few hundred dollars in the US. Camping is real big in Europe with all the bells and whistles and its impossible to get a hotel room in August. So I know where you are coming from.
