There's an interesting article over at ProBlogger called "Do You Think of Your Blog as a Blog or a Website?".

I was just wondering what the people in this forum thought, so I've posted a poll to see. If you think you're a "writer" but you do your hosting on a blogging tool, maybe post the link to your blog so I (we) can see what you mean...

I voted "writer" though I'm a bit on the fence. My site is definitely a blog - I use blogging software and put most of my content in posts but reading the article you linked I wouldn't say I have any real image of myself as a blogger, I just find the format convenient...

So thats a definite maybe in either direction.

A writer (but then I would say that :) ) My blog is just an easy way to get that writing onto my website.

I love problogger, one of my favorite sites. I see myself as a writer, or a wannabe writer. But blogger is not really something that you are or aren't. It's just a state of mind where you like communicating online. It's a mix between an old school writer and a forummer. Forums are full of interaction, traditional writers are more to themselves and bloggers somewhere in the middle.

I am both a writer and a blogger. I have one site which is very much like a blog -- added a poem today -- while other sites are news and.or article oriented. This reflects that fact that I started life as a journalist and transformed into an ag market analysts by becoming a grain trader and then into a writer/blogger/word tinkerer by trying to break out of my comfort zone.

You can see the evolution from my company's Ag News Site through my personal blog.

    It is a stupid question.

It is like asking a question to a journalist of a newspaper by asking him:

    are u a journalist or a writer?

you're right. Or asking a person who writes ads "are you ann adder or a copywriter"... You see. I count myself as a blogger for now. I can't call myself a writer because what I "write" is in Blog format. Short and sweet, and a tip a day. I don't write prose, or use fancy language, and I don't really have any great skill in writing.

I think Stephen King would get really upset with me if he looked at my GREAT blog, and knew I called myself a writer.
