dude you get what you pay for... DP is full of BS so-called writters... yo if you want good copy do some research and find someone that can post and communicate with you here in proper english.... I just talk to a guy that said "for long we deliver excellent copywriting that preform good seo to international corporations. We have much experience in seo" or something like that... ummm... yeah that guys probably not gonna get me any results... so again, you get what you pay for....

"experience" is what you get when you don't get what you were going for in the first place... You need results in this game.

Well if you think about how the Huffington Post started (just sold to AOL for over 300mil) they were paying writers $15/article to get the masses they needed before they could hire employees and staff. It basically started with an editor and a budget.

On the other end, people want exposure, so if they have a chance to make a buck or two while doing something of interest, why not? No need to say they aren't actually writer...I admire them because 99% of them probably write exactly what they feel/believe/want versus sellouts who write what people want to hear because they're paid to be bias. JUST MY OP :)

I offer to write articles starting at $5.00 per article , all proper grammar, word count, and keyword placement. I can get no orders due to lack of score or ranking. Tiss a pity, because I guarantee, you would love any of my articles if people would give me a chance. Born and raised in the U.S.A and want to go to University of Maine. Trying to save.

rorymullen, that is not the reason.

They don't even think to go by that.

Most if not practically all here talk a good game about wanting a writer, and that they have a "project" they need, and that there will be more jobs in the future. Blah, blah, blah....

The thing is, they don't go through with it. This board, among others, is bottom of the barrel in getting jobs.

I would suggest either just simply getting a part time job and/or checking out sites like Demand Media.

They (and other such sites) pay $10 to, I think, $20 per piece.

    USA Today carries DM's articles:

    http://traveltips.usatoday.com/

DM has empty, ho-hum articles, but, hey, if you need the money right now...

    Rory,
As in any line of work, the key to success is competency, diligence and perseverance.
Start by showcasing your talent. Write a number articles that you, yourself, can be proud of and put it up online, either in your own blog or a directory.
Then, start hunting for opportunities. One or two or even ten rejection is nothing for a newbie. Remember that. If you're good, you will be able to make a decent income.

Let me start you off with a few leads:
    (i) Wasabi Media: http://www.wasabimediagroup.com/
Easily earn more than your targetted $5

    (ii) Sabre Noise http://sabrenoise.com/2011/02/13/writers-wanted/
    Great exposure

    (iii) Indy Posted http://www.indyposted.com/
There's an opportunity to make daily posting here at $10 apiece

Remember though, never go through middleman (or sites such as Freelancer or the likes) and always have multiple income streams.

This will be your launchpad to start. Once you settle down, and are prepared to move to the next step, let me know (if I'm still here, lol), and I'll provide you with some additional pointers.

    Luck.

Just wanted to add: I saw forums (russian) where copywriting jobs/services were offered for $0,7-3. And there were really lots of those willing to work. As a result there appeared kinda tradition that each newbie has to write some articles with no payment - for a review of his copywriting quality to be posted on the forum. Then moreover, there appeared lots of webmasters with threads like "Someone, I need a couple of articles, write it for a review."

i think that for $1-$3 per article you will find a quality issue. Unless its written buy someone who has absolutely no need for money (but who doesnt need it. lol) then quality is normally an issue. Spun articles are pretty standard for that rate. I couldnt charge that much and feel good about my quality. I write 10 -20 article plr packs and they sell for $60-$100 per pack and only sell between 30 and 50 so not to saturate the market. I do well. But couldnt dream of doing it for $1-$3 per article. Quality over quantity is key.

@Rorymullen, Most people are looking for cheap work just thrown together. I have never advertised for work on these forums due to the unreasonable offers I get ($2/500 words) My work comes from word of mouth. I will eventually post here to see if it is still a bad idea but you should explore other options. Even contacting some popular blogs and sites and seeing about getting a "trial" writing period. As stated before me, this site seems to be a "bottom of the barrel" site. Not saying its impossible to achieve a good following, just tough.

few people answered my ad for 5 articles @$2 each. none of them delivered work that was acceptable - the best result was 61% plagiarised according to copyscape
from some I haven't heard after we made an initial agreement (maybe one day I receive their work, who knows)

I wanted to get some quality content (at THEIR prices) but 7 days for 5 articles is waaaaaaay too long for me

went to scriptlance and got work delivered on time and on the cheap. and of course copyscape passed

Yeah competition increased. So automatically rate will be decreased.

You always get what you pay for when it comes to article writers. I cannot understand how webmasters can justify buying crap articles as their are a DIRECT reflection on their sites. Never ceases to amaze me that so many out there pay the lowest rates imaginable and actually USE those articles that point directly to their sites!

The global economic meltdown we've experienced over the past few years played a large part in lowering the prices of all online services. Everyone expects me to do programming work for bargain basement prices, too. It's gotten ridiculous.

Whether or not they're "writers" depends on the quality of their articles, not the price they get paid. If the articles are crap, then I'd say no, they're not writers. Likewise, if they're just spun or rewritten articles from somewhere else, then they're not writers. Writing requires at least some level of talent.

LOL, I wouldn't even get out of bed to write an article for $1 - $3. Usually, I get paid around .03 - .04 cents per word. Not much, I'm aware of that, but considering that I have less than 2 months of experience, I think it's an okay rate.

There are writers who are really worth the money you spend. For $2 per 300 words, you can find some good quality writers or rewriters here in DP.

It may be cheap but a drop down in price was primarily due to stiff competition.
