Hello guys.... I posted this question in a wrong section. I hope this is the right one. I'm planning on building some sites to sell but I'm trying to find out if I should go with WP Blogs or regular sites. Could you please post some opinions? Thank you very much. Vick
I have used wordpress for all my personal blogs. I havent really used other sites other than blogspot, bravenet and progressiveu. But I do prefer wordpress. I like the plugin options and spam karma software as well as the choices that are available for wordpress themes. And I dont know if they are more valuable. But I think many people may be more familiar with wp than others.
I don't know if more valuable. It depends on how much effort you want to put into managing them. WP is easy to customize and manage, requiring little to no coding unlike the traditional website. I have made 1000's from Wordpress blogs, as long as they are hosted on their own domains. It's really about promotion, get your site out there and you will make some cash!
Thank you guys. So, right now I can see that building WP blogs would be a better option because it's SEO friendly and easier to modify, right? Now, my question is... If I create nice WP blog and I sell it, how do I transfer it to the buyer? Would it just a matter of send him the folders of the WP installation I did in my server? And of course the user name and password of the blog? Sorry my ignorance but I've never consider to sell websites until now. Thanks again. Vick
You would just transfer the database. You can also transfer the files for the theme, etc to the buyer.
Just transfer the database as mentioned in above posts.New owner will have to reinstall wordpress and import your database..
I prefer the expandability of Joomla over Wordpress but thats just me. Wordpress is WILDLY popular. The backend is just very intuitive
Thanks everybody.... I have my last request (sorry, I'm just starting in sites transfers). How do I get and send the blog Database? Where is it?What do I do? I promise this will be the last question about this. Thank you very, very much. Vick
Hey.. you will need to use phpMyAdmin to export the database, you can find it in your cpanel if thats what server software you run. I am not sure if wordpress has its own database export tool.. I have always used phpMyAdmin when transferring blogs.
I'd register the domain and install wordpress and the content. I'd make sure the domain can be easily transferred and have the details changed (so he can charge his credit card for hosting). That way your selling the whole package to the customer. As for wordpress itself, I think it's a great CMS blogging tool and very SEO friendly. However, most clients with little internet knowledge would know about wordpress and know that it cost you very little to set up. So it might actually de value the final selling price.
Another avenue to take is. 1. Get yourself a Resellers Hosting account where you can create the websites. Then when you sell them, you need to transfer the domain name. State that they'll have to join the same domain registration company as you have used for the domain name. Then its a simple matter of them giving you their username and you can transfer the domain name to them very easily. If you are just selling a wordpress setup with a domain name, to make it more attractive (higher perceived value) you may want to offer them, 1 or x months of Free Hosting on your resellers account (if you go that way). There are many courses of action you can take on this. But whichever way you go - you'll most likely have to provide instructions on how to set things up. You do have that they probably have no idea on how to transfer Files and install already created Databases and how to use Wordpress. The higher the level of support and guidance you can give someone - the more attractive it'll be to someone totally new to all this. But you want to create these instructions once and direct them to it. Especially if you going to be doing a lot of these. Good luck with it. Cheers Tim
WP blog is good because it's so popular. I don't think it makes the site more valuable than other blogs, but since many people tend to use WP - it might be painful to try to switch from other type to WP (might be). I'd go for WP.
all sites are equal, based on how good you are at SEO. Wordpress however is set up so that it's light & readable right out of the box. Plus it has all the right things and expandability that enhance SEO & promotion.
