Sorry to say that wikipedia is nofollow link. However, if you have link on wikipedia, then you will get a lot of traffic from them
we have a link on Wikipedia and we have gotten a bunch of traffic directly through that link. so it has been positive for us.
Its positive if used right but I would not rely on this as one of your top marketing techniques as it will not in the long term make your site as large as you need it traffic wise.
Never got any PR from them but get some visitors and can proudly mention to advertisers that we are on Wikipedia
If your site is relevant to the article, you'll be getting quality traffic. No harm in trying to add your site as a link...just make sure it's pertinent to the subject matter and that your site has quality content.
wikipedia isnt a collection of links so if the link isnt 100% on topic it will be removed within hours by some geek
A comment about wikipedia traffic.... back when I watched this stuff really closely, I noticed that I got lots of traffic to the site listed below about limited liability companies... but I got no customers. I.e., wikipedia visitors were interested only in free information...
yes wikipedia links are good..they are informative..when you want something to know..wikipedia will make it easy for you...
Wikipedia will help build pagerank, in this sense. As others have commented, a Wikipedia link can be an excellent source of direct traffic. Yes, there's no PR passed through this link, but... Those who visit from Wikipedia are obviously interested in your topic, and if your site is good, they may link to you in their blogs, social networking, etc. And these links may pass pagerank. If a site is a good resource, Wikipedia can be a launch pad for a viral buzz. If a site is not a good enough resource to generate a viral buzz off Wikipedia traffic, that's a useful signal that the best way to boost links, is to boost the quality of the content.
