Are webmasters liable for links displayed in the adsense ads?

I dont really want to get into specifics here but recently i have been contacted by a major association requesting that i remove certain copyright infringements from my blog website.

This is basically just a few official images thats all, now they also request that i remove links to websites offering unofficial ticket purchases.

The images can be removed no problem, but the links they are reffering to are from the google ads - am i liable for the displaying of these links?

Dont get me wrong i know ideally i should consult a lawyer for the official verdict but to be honest the website in question is very new and i'll just remove the ads anyway.

Just think it raises a good question.

I'm sure it's the FIFA they only have that to do. I don't know if you are liable for these links, probably not since you don't have power except to filter out those website in your adsense filter.
But honestly the FIFA lawyers can do it themselves by talking to adwords, but then they'll be talking to other lawyers and not to mere webmasters.

I have no idea to be honest :) It might be worth either banning them or contacting Google... Thats if it's just 1 specific advertiser. If it's all then be worried :D

    You could try

    1. Using the filter

    2. Sending their email to G who I am sure will be interested if they have advertisers breaking copyright law

    3. Reply saying you are giving the matter your attention.

It actually could be a tricky issue as its probably "agency law" (in the UK) which CAN be complicated as to where the liability lies. Dont just assume the liability lies with the advertiser - if they have lawyers on your trail they probably mean business. DON'T go directly to the advertiser and you have no business relationship with them - you are acting as Googles agent not the advertisers.
