Are we slowly seeing the death of Hollywood?

With more and more people getting their fun from user genrated video sites like YouTube and other similar sites, the film theatres are seeing a big decline in ticket sales because people do not have the patience to watch through a two-hour movie.

Hollywood will not DIE of course, inside films you get to see stuff which could never be made at home or through a normal camera, plus, like someone said, the experience is different. So yeah, there might be a little downfall, but no death.

I don't think so... who doesn't like the experience the wide screen surround system in a while? Youtube is just another thing on "the side".. the quality is way too low to replace hollywood..

Hollywood is far from dying. Nothing beats watching films on a movie theater.

I don't think Hollywood is dying, but the movie theater business is in decline... at least in the USA.

It's gettting too expensive to take the family to a movie on a regular basis. That's why the home theater market is growing so rapidly. You can find most movies on DVD within a few months after they are released in the movie theaters. It's much easier to rent a top movie for $3 to $4, make a pizza, pop open a bottle of wine and sit back and enjoy a movie in your own home.

I enjoy the movie theater experience for a real good action flick, but these days we only go once or twice per year.

Just a thought, maybe they just aren't putting out any good movies! or as good.

I find watching movies and such on the computer is extremely boring. I tend to keep looking at the clock and ask myself, "Is it over yet?" whereas in a theatre, my attention is solely fixed on the movie. Not to mention that you can't beat a 150-200 inch screen. :D

I read today that Spider-Man 3 is going to make $150 million dollars alone this opening weekend. Ticket sales are up over last year's numbers. DVD sales are also up. Hollywood movies are not even close to going away, if anything they are making more money now than ever before.

holly wood will not die, even though movies are accessible through computer, unless your computer is super fast and you can download a movie in like 2 minutes, most people cant be stuffed, and would rather spend $10 and get the full experience
