Are we allowed to plug in our url?

I really want to know this before I ever do this. I'm not sure if this is allowed here however I've seen many others doing it.

Suppose I am browsing DP, and find a thread about something someone is looking for, or is seeking help. Lets say, like forum building tips or something specific about any niche.

Now, I have written a good article about same thing in my blog.

So are we allowed to help or share views and write like, I've written an article on it. You can read it here - url to my article directly, not to my site. I mean I know direct posting links everywhere is spamming and something I wont do it. But if somewhere the article falls totally relevant, we can do it?

If direct link is not allowed, non direct link like

domain.com/article-url

Yep its allowed. But if they wanted to know about forums, and you gave an adult link ..........

Or, if you put affiliate links.......

You'd be Infracted!

 

There's answering a question or genuinely adding to a conversation with a link and there's spamming...two different things
