There are many sites that require a free registration, you put a counter on your website and the statistics are submited automatically to the server that performs as a top-sites directory(the higher the impressions and the unique users, the higher your position will be in the respective traffic site). I hope you understand the type of site I am talking about. Is it worth registering my site on multiple websites like this?
No, considering the outbound links are diluted by all the other links located on the web page. Minimal to no value is my opinion.
All you are doing is giving them a backlink in the counter, besides Google are cracking on these counter and widget linking schemes. Personally i would stay away, as ssandecki said the backlink you get is junk.
