I've been wondering if the following types of links have any worthwhile value: 1. stumbles, diggs, etc 2. forum sig links 3. blog comments 4. word clouds 5. bid for position directories 6. exchanged links Do the search engines give any worthwhile value to these types of links, or are they basically almost worthless? ?Does anyone have any information or opinions? Thank you
Those links have no/very little/uncertain worth for long term seo. Exchanged links only have some worth if they are not the majority of your links. Word clouds are completely junk, stumble/Digg only good for untargeted traffic, blogs now today put no-follow on comments, forum sigs pass very little pr, and people don't know how Google views bid-directories yet.
Thanks for the replies. I was already thinking that these kinds of links usually aren't worth much. But what puzzles me is that I keep seeing people talking about these types of links in various DP forums. I've even seen threads where somebody wanted to "rent" another person's sig links. If these types of links have so little value, why do people keep starting threads about them? That's what I don't understand.
People buy sig links as a low cost way of advertising on a forum for direct traffic, the more sigs you buy, the higher the chance a forum member will see the advertisement and click the link. Sigs may be useful for direct forum traffic if the site relates to the forum and you buy enough of them, but sigs provide very little seo value.
Blog comments on related blogs without the no follow tag will help with SEO Link exchanges on related sites that receive traffic will help you get more traffic Forums signatures will help you to get more traffic, if used correctly The rest of the link types you mentioned are very near worthless in my opinion, though stumbles and diggs may help very little
I think in decreasing order if you try to evaluate each of these techniques value then it should be: 1. stumbles, diggs, etc 2. blog comments 3. exchanged links ( If not on massive scale and with qualitative sites) 4. forum sig links ( on an average < 30 per forum with some rational comments around them) All the rest are below...them....I personally never recommend them..Neither I use....
1. stumbles, diggs, etc 2. forum sig links and some blog comments are great for ranking well in the SERP's the rest are worthless
