are these fonts copyrighted?

    Which typeface are you referring to? There are at least three to four different typefaces in use for that website.

    Most fonts are copyrighted, which does not mean that you cannot use them, technically you have to get a license from the type foundry to use their typefaces.

    I.E., LT Zapfino...one of my favorite typefaces would have to be licensed through Linotype; the type foundry.

    Obtaining a single license for a particular font is very expensive. Linotype charges 1,299.00 USD for Helvetica. Usually you can get around this by buying a font package or a font library so you aren't paying thousands to use one font.

    but if i were to use that design.. would i get in trouble.. its just a blog for me.

    No I don't think you will get in trouble. Worst possible outcome is the designer asking you to remove it from your site for copyright infringement. Just don't claim that you did it..try to sell it and etc.
