Yes, there are good directories on the web. Many Php link directories are managed by owners who are proud and protective of the links submitted. It takes a lot of work to weed out the good from many bad link submissions each day.

These directories often show a counter on the number of submissions. If you see there are thousands of pending links involved, you can assume the owner is not updating as regularly as s/he should.

The best directories take payment for the work involved in keeping the directory link juices flowing, as well as placing the link on the homepage that is ranking. DMOZ is expensive, so check out peoples directories that may very well make it worth your time and link building efforts...

    Really?
How much does it cost to get listed by DMOZ?

So, any paid directory that born yesterday is "the best"?

What about 10 years old directory that doesn't charge anything?
    Is it the worst directory?
Are you saying that there is no good Free directories around?
Well, check directory in my signature.

I'm saying, next time you decide to write something on subject you have no idea,
get your facts straight or people will think that you are incompetent fool or idiot.

You could publish your article on eHow.com . It's one of the sites that increased its ranking after Google changed its algorithm.

There are many good directories which may be paid or free. It doesn't matters that the directory is free or paid. A free one may yield the result as like as the paid one.

As for the paid directory, it gurantee you that the url of your site will be included and that too in less span of time
whereas free directories dose not ensure you wheather the url of your site will be approved and it also takes lot of time

    You wanna bet?
Where all that puke is coming from?
And who da fuck you think you are to "gurantee" anything?

Maybe because free directories don't have to deal with garbage you're submitting
and deleting idiots sites who can't fallow submission guidelines.

Submit to DMOZ then forget about it.. It will be ages to get listed (if you get listed)

I personally think a link is a link. The benefits of link directories as I see them is a fee link. Not all accept you and not all are active but if you use a proper list you will find the high rated sites by feedback from other link builders.

Also I find more of the links are dofollow v's the nofollow attribute that the majority of blogs offer..

I started my site with Link building and moved to blog commenting then social bookmarking and am 4th for my main term now..

Worked for me took a good 6 months to get to where I am now and receiving loads of orders.

It also looks pretty natural too as each directory accepts you in their own time so not too many links at once..

Personally I am not worried about PR (would be nice in recognition for my hard work) so not worried if its a PR0 directory I am adding my site too.

All I would say is dont put too many links on one IP address or directories full of spam.. Check the directory first to make sure its clean and tidy and make the most of the Anchor Text for your keywords..

There are 1000's of free directories available today, but only a few among them are actually useful. Submitting to the rest of them were seriously a waste of time. But directories like dmoz.com,scrubtheweb.com,entireweb.com etc etc.. will be useful.
