Are there sites that give someone a free website with his own domain name

    you can get a free .tk domain name or .co.cc.. then just get free webhosting are you are set up.
    If you want .com or .net or anything, there is almost nothing free. I would go with internet.bs, godaddy or netfirms (netfirms have a $5 offer right now)

    It's not that expensive really for a .com or .net, but if you are just playing around, I would agree with ^

    if you live in the uk google will give you a free .co.uk domain and host it free for one year

    wow, that's cool, free UK site, I'll keep that in mind, but just one question, let's say I set it up in UK while I'm there, what if I move?

    as long as you sign up with a uk address from a uk ip then your fine (you can sign up again using a new email ;) )

    Based from what I know, Google gives free hosting through Google App Engine.
    But then, you get a free subdomain instead of a free domain.
    They give you <yourselectedsitename>.appspot.com

    It is designed for dynamic websites though.

    If you want a domain, you can buy one since it is not really expensive.
    You can get a .com with less than $15.00 a year.

    I didn't hear aboutt that.  What if you live outside the UK but somehow get a UK web host?  That would be something to look into.
