Google is good but recently it seems google censors too many search result and list too many sand traps for sensitive search like software etc. Teoma used to be its competitor but now changed to ask.com
I am pretty sure that Ask recently announced that it is changing its format to serve women. Google does offer uncensored search, if you turn off the adult filter and other filters. Just because you turn off the filters does not mean that your site will rank well in Google. I assume you are asking your question because your website is not ranking as well in Google as you think it should? Google accounts for between 50% and 60% of all online searches. On my website, it accounts for 52% of search traffic, then Yahoo, Windows Live, Ask, and MSN accounts for the next 42%. The remaining 6% of traffic comes from 55 search engines. On my website, only 48.8% of my traffic comes from search engines. The remaining traffic comes directly from article placements on other websites, forum posts, and recommendations from other people. Of the big three, it has been my experience that it is easier to rank in 1) MSN, 2) Yahoo, and then 3) Google. MSN is the easiest search engine to rank in, but it only delivers 4.6% of my total search traffic. You might be able to find a website that has more pure results, or in your case, results that favor your website more highly, but those high rankings in that other search engine will only send you trickles of traffic. The truth is that it is nearly impossible in nearly every search engine to rank well in the natural results for such a singular keyword as "software". If you want to rank well in Google, you need to build inbound links to your website with your targeted keywords in the links. You don't want to put all of your links together with one keyword, but you want to spread out the keywords that you target. If you put the same keyword in your links more than 60% of the time, your website will draw a penalty from Google. Long-tail keywords will be the answer to your ranking puzzle in Google. Long-tail keywords will actually serve you better in the Google game anyway. After all, when I do a search for software in Google, I don't type in the search word, "software". No, I type in search phrases like: accounting software, small business accounting software, php software link directory, windows software accounting small business, windows image editing software, windows software image editor, etc. People searching the keyword "software" have yet to figure out that they are looking for specific kinds of software. Once they do that initial search, they are going to type in more specific search terms to find what they are actually looking to find. So, for you to want to rank for "software" shows an ignorance for how people actually search for products. Once you start targeting specific long-tail keyword phrases, for ranking inside Google or any other search engine, then you will start seeing more success in your search marketing. However, if you just absolutely need to rank well for the singular keyword "software", then you need to look seriously at Pay-Per-Click advertising, such as is found at: http://adwords.google.com and http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com
If you want to find things, and you tgink google isn't listing them, (rather than you're complaining because you're not listed,) you can use a meta-search, like copernic.
I just feel that google now lists too many sandbox trapped on the first page for certain search/keyword or google seems not to be in neutral position.
the search results produced by google are good, they sandbox a good percent of bad sites, but google is still business motivated. They put in first many poor results by the cause of money
