Are there any tools for determining your position beyond 100?

I'm trying to determine my ranking for a particular search phrase. It's not in the Top 100 on any of the search engines, but I feel like I should be getting close. Is there any utility out there that will give me what I seek, or do I need to write it myself?

If it's only 1 phrase then change the search options so that it brings up 100 results per page, and then click on Edit > Find : And type in your URL.

It will only take you a minute to go through 1,000 results (10 pages).

Try this single line results checker.
    http://www.google.com/ie?q=&num=100&hl=en

If you've been to your site recently, then it should show up as purple, not blue. That will make scanning these one line results much, much faster.

Thanks for the info. It was very useful.

It did raise some additional questions...

My search phrase had over 80 million results. However, Google did not return but 795 results. Is that just the max that Google will return? I was not listed in the 795 results, which was mildly depressing. If I add my domain in there, it found me just fine.

    Can someone clarify?

You're probably in the sandbox pher.

How old is the site and do you have plenty of links to it from some good places?

Site is a little over 3 months. I already rank highly on Google for some of my other less significant keywords. I've got about 100 or so backlinks and about 250 pages indexed.

Some people have reported coming out of the sandbox in stages - perhaps your site is partially out and ranking for lesser searched for terms, but not able to rank for your main word(s) just yet.

I believe 3 months is way too early to rank for any major words, but I have experienced ranking for smaller terms at this stage.

Well that's no fun, but does explain it to a degree.

Does MSN and Yahoo have sandboxes as well?

Well i dont think your site is in a sandbox else google wont find it from "search within results" - its just that your site is not ranked within the top 795 websites listed on google.com

Keep working on SEO of that search phrase and you will enter the top 500 or so soon. Good luck !!

And yeah - again - i dont think your site is sandboxed !!

That was my initial thought. I know my phrase is highly competitive, but I was a bit disheartened to see I wasn't ranked yet.

    I'll keep plugging away.
