Are there any plugins for a members system?

    Are there any wordpress plugins that allow users to post without entering the admin area? Or do I have to customize the admin area to look like my site?

    you need to install Wordpress MU and the Buddy press.
    But if already wordpress is installed todomini forms would help you to post from front end.
    Also some plugins can be found to bring a user box in sidebar
