    I came across compete.com yesterday and it is a good site, similar to Alexa. But like Alexa, their stats are not accurate at all, so you wouldn't want to rely on them completely.

    You could check with http://tallstreet.com it is a social recommendation search engine where the rankings are determined by the users only.

    i applied for a job at compete (i ended up accepting a position elsewhere) and learned about how they aggregate data during the interview. Their data is made up from less than like 1% of the webs traffic, theres no way that is a large enough sample to get any realistic ranks.

    Good point. I don't think any of these ranking systems are very accurate, and the only reason I see for using one is to impress an advertiser who demands some sort of "proof" that your site is popular.
