I need some advice. About a year ago, I started suffering from mild insomnia and unfortunately, started taking the prescription drug ambien (which I just recently came off of) now my sleep is worse than ever. I think it is more psychological at this point that I get so stressed I can't sleep without it. Has anyone else here used ambien in the past and has come off of it? How do I get back to just normal sleep? I am no longer using ambien and definately don't want to start using it again (as it is very addictive regardless of what people say) but I am suffering here. Anyone have any advice? I NEED TO SLEEP
Sorry to hear of your sleep problems. I've never been on Ambien myself. I normally don't have insomnia, but definitely having bouts of it recently. Sure makes me feel for those of you that it's chronic with.
It's terrible but I honestly feel with me that it is now at a point that it is more from the withdrawal from the ambien. (I know in my mind that it is now a psychological thing) Like right now, I know I need to go in and go to bed but I already have in my mind that I can't sleep. Before I started taking that, I would have some sleepless nights but I think that was more from some life events that I went through and my job but with the ambien, I would take it and lay down and just fall asleep (and unfortunately, I became dependent on it) and that was odd for me because I am very anti drug and now, I just want to go back to the occassional restless night but being able to sleep without medication or wine LOL so I am searching for others who have taken ambien and come off of it that can maybe help me get over this psychological hump. What helps you when you can't sleep?
I had insomnia few days back. But it disappeared automatically and now I sleep at 2AM and wake up at 9 am. Just think nicely before going to sleep. - Mr.President -

A thread about plug-and-play internet. All options were given to you, though you were waiting for more replies OK, let's not go out of topic here @ OP: You may find some useful website/forums by Googling. Meditation may help you, but I am not sure.
na... i had insomnia back in college! .... the only thing that really works is a good workout,... join the gym! M.
I sometimes get it. The best method is to think to yourself "sleep" "relax" over and over. It's what my doctor suggested, and it works. Also, don't watch TV, use a computer or drink coffee an hour before bed.
Thanks Peter. I will definately try that. Part of the problem may be the computer. (as nighttime is when I work alot on my articles for internet marketing) and I think I get my mind too active right before going to bed than it becomes like a hampster in a wheel LOL I
Ok all, I have officially been off the ambien for a few weeks now (not that I still don't want it but it has gotten better) No longer the lucid dreams Naps are back easily Yeah Yeah Missed my naps LOL Nighttime is still a bit hard. but getting better. I have tried the relax techniques and not getting on computer so much late at night (Thanks Peter) Although tonight not a good example but I am happy to admit it is getting better. I feel better. I still battle with Insomnia and do miss the ambien (the way they just knocked me out but knowing my health is better. I have been exercising a tad more (although hard to find time this time of year with holiday stuff) but definately, don't want to get back on ambien again. Thanks for all your helpful tips. Happy Holidays to all my DP friends
OK so slipped back and starting taking the ambien again. Insomnia sucks and I hate it. Doctor prescribes me 12 pills a month (so I don't take it every night) but I really hate taking any type of medication so this is really bothering me. I really want to talk with people that have used ambien and gotten off of it successfully? Any help is appreciated. Please only post if you have actually used ambien and gotten off of it. Thanks in advance
