    Hi All,

Just wondering if there are any good books out there that are worth a read to get a general overview of marketing websites etc.

Do you think this is a good idea and if so are there any must reads?

    Thanks.

for seo and some good references go to and buy Aaron Wall's ebook at www.seobook.com it is a very good book on websites/seo/etc. (he lists many books by topic-some are great, some are just ok)

Secrets to success cannot be read or found. You would have to create them yourself.

    Hi there...

Just a 'second opinion', but I do a lot of reading on the web as well, and getting good with search operators can help find more specific answers.

Point being that while I read books, I enjoy the variety of opinions and challenge of finding hard data to back up opinions to be quite educational. It's sort of to the above point about cretaing ones 'own way', get varied atheories from different writers, ask your own questions and answer them and then find some hard data to back it up.

I suppose another issue with marketing and books is that he marketplace is truly alive and theories can change quickly. Print can get outdated fast.

Once again, I am not against books, I just wanted to throw another 'angle' on things..

There is no secret to marketing online simply do the following things and you are sure to succeed:

    - Believe in yourself
    - Research, Research, Research
    - Set goals and do your best to achieve them
    - TAKE ACTION! You wont get anywhere if you never start

I have read 2 fantastic ebooks which are: Mind over Marketer and The Most Smashing, Transformational Internet Marketing Book Ever Produced. Good luck.

I like the rich jerk just because it motivated me. The information in it was of marginal usefulness. If you've been doing this for a while you'll probably already know almost all of the stuff in the Rich Jerk.

I think just keeping at it is the secret. If you get frustrated and give up you'll never get anywhere

I think the best book is being written every day. The book is simply called "Digitalpoint". You can't get better knowledge than talking to the real people doing this business for real.

    Watch, listen and learn.

I have seen some newcomers make some great strides thanks to the positive comments and encouragement in these forums.
