I've been looking for a way to obtain a new IP address without using proxy's or VPN's with my current setup (Cable internet with Belkin Router). I came across this tutorial and it works fine. I then went a step further and instead of "Cloning my Computers MAC Address", I decided to just make one up. I simply changed the last number from my original routers mac address - again, this worked and gave me a whole new IP address. I was just wondering, is there a certain format for the MAC address I enter? Obviously it has to have hex (a-f & 0-9) values, but is there anything more to it? P.S. In order for the tutorial to work, I also had to restart the modem & router from the mains after I changed the MAC Address.
