Are there any decent alternatives to Aweber?

I would like to know if there are any free or cheaper alternatives to Aweber for opt in email auto responding and mass newsletter sending.

    Any ideas?

First you need to decide if you need a server hosted solution or just a desktop application.
Usually it depends on the number of contacts you have and the stats you want to collect.
also it is not possible to collect new addresses via desktop application.

P.S.: sent you a private message

    PM received.

I think I would prefer a web based application. I wander if there are any free ones available.

You could use phplist or ccmail instead
Total control is what most matters.

I'm using phplist to manage my company's double opt-in email newsletter. Works fine and the price is right (it's free).
