Yes, there are affilite programs that pay per
referal :) All you need to do is find the ones
that match your interest. By paying "per
referal" I presume you mean "pay per lead" that
    is...

These programs will pay you whenever you give
them a "lead". Someone who just leaves his/her
details. They don't have to buy anything.

    Better still...

There are "pay per click" referal programs :)
YES! Just like Google AdSense! These ones pay
    better too.

CPA networks have campaigns that pays per every new members (for example dating campaigns). Most of them also give you something from what your refered webmasters earn :)

Do Pay Per Lead affiliates work for you? Also, where can you get hold of Pay Per Click affiliates.

Yes pay per lead does work well. I suggest you do a
    search on shareasale.com

You will find various merchants offering pay-per-sale, pay-per-lead,
and pay-per-click programs. There are a many other sites besides
shareasale that also offer a similar service.

You can also find individual merchants you can sign up with directly.
The choice is yours :D I suggest you do a search on Google
for ("pay per click"+affiliate+program), ("pay per lead"+affiliate+program),
("pay per sale"+affiliate+program) etc. (Without the brackets)

Just remember, there many affiliate programs out there. Don't
get overwhelmed and sign up for each one of them. Just pick one with:
    • Great ad copy (Note: this applies to pay per click too as poor copy
will affect your click thru rates. You can write your own copy
if you are good at copywriting though.

    • The one that blends well with your own web copy.

    • Great affiliate support. Don't settle for "here are our
banner codes copy and paste on your website (sit back
and make money)" That's crap! Those guys either don't
know the first thing about marketing or just don't care
about your efforts to bring them sales. I would dump them right
      there!

    • Is their product or service in demand? Do a keyword search on
      Overture and see how
many people where looking for the particular service
on overture in the past month.
If you are going for pay per click that should be enough but if you are
going for pay per sale then you need to know if people are actually
willing to PAY for that service. For this you need to look at best
selling products on sites like Amazon.com, ClickBank etc

    • Payment threshold and frequency.

    • If you can test their software and see how reliable it is.
The simplest way would be clicking on your own affiliate link
then logging into their control panel to see if it records this action.
(DON'T do this for pay per click however. You could be dumped for it)

    • Now this one is VERY important! How long do they leave a cookie on
the prospect's computer? It is also helpful if they track the IP.
You may not get paid if your lead decides to buy later, yet you would be
the one that would have send them there

Bear these points in mind and affiliate marketing could even be fun
    and rewarding for you :)
