In all my blogs I have Technorati tags by default, but I am starting to wonder if this is worth the real estate. I never seem to get anything back from them. I know that it the past they were somewhat useful and did seem to give some traffic in return, but no so much anymore. If I search my blog, (JournalHome), I don't even appear at all, none of the blogs hosted seem to be listed, (none that I can see anyway). What do you guys think? Shall I just remove Technorati, (and make it optional for my users)? Regards, FFMG
They might not give you traffic anymore for now, but still they give some link juices. There're no 'too much link' in seo. So at least make optional for your users.
I wouldn't say 'actively', it is just added automatically by my scripts in all the entries. It was something I did a few years ago, I can't even remember why I did it in the first place. Removing it is trivial, and I think I will because I don't seem to be getting anything back from technorati in return and they make it near impossible to use properly, (how others have managed to appear in their list I simply don't know). Their 'developer' page is nothing short of a joke, (http://technorati.com/developers/) ... their API has been under construction for over 2 years now. So I think this is a fairly dead project. For fun, I tried to (re)'claim' my own blog, (http://www.journalhome.com/journalhome), but apparently that did not work, (or it claimed it worked but in reality nothing happened). They are making it too hard to use, with no return as far as I can see, I will just remove it from all my blogs and offer it as an option for my users, (with a warning that it is a useless tool). I'm not really sure that they help anymore, on Technorati it even says something about they don't index pages the same anymore. I wouldn't think they help much, but they say, every little bit counts
