After using tags on my site for a few months, and hearing about WordPress's native tag support in their latest release, I'm starting to wonder: Why am I doing this again? It slows down my blogging workflow, none of my visitors ever seem to arrive via my tag pages, and now I'm wondering if Google thinks I'm a spammer because of all the tags I use. It does seem curious that none of my tag archive pages seem to rank well, if at all. They're all in excerpts so there's no duplicate issue either. Hmmmmm... Anyone else have SEO problems as a result of using tags?
are you talking about meta tags?? if so , yes use them, if you are talking about blogging tags, they are also uselful
Are you talking about the tags in "Ultimate Tag Warrior"? In getting my latest site ready for it's big launch day, I eventually decided that tags weren't worth the trouble for me. Brandon
Yeah I'm talking about blogging tags, in my case by using Ultimate Tag Warrior. Since the beginning everyone who used tags had been getting on about how great it was, but now I'm beginning to wonder if I'm not getting gipped here.
tags are often used in blogs in which for each post, you choose a few keywords from your content and add them as tags. i.e. if you wrote about eating porridge your tags would probably something like food, porridge, eating etc. The advantage to using tags is that they can be more specific than categories. If some reads a post and likes it then they can click on one of the tags and see other similar posts. I have them on my site because it seemed the thing to do. Now though I think they are a waste because it means more work and it would be just as easy to use the search box.
Tags are not useful for the blogs. The blog categories are there to take care of the purpose for which we use tags. Just for the purpose of using you may use it but not for any benefits..
