I think it depends in your interest. If it's your interest and love what you're doing, I think your job will love you back.

Very true. I'd underline this statement - many times the hardest part is taking the first step...

    Don't be discouraged.

You have made 1 sale - that's excellent.

It proves that you know what it takes to get a sale.

Now, you wanna aim and see how to double that to 2 sales... and soon you'll be getting 5 sales... then 10... 20... 50... 100... 1000... 5000... and so on...

    Agree on this one too.

    Good pointers.

    Yes... exactly.

Do what you really enjoy, and the money will come...

I know so many people that maxed out all of their credit cards before turning a profit. I got lucky and started with $40 now, now that $40 pays must of my bills every month.

Credit cards are risky business if your going to invest on that money...or I guess even spend it on clothes and food if you don't already have the money to pay for it.
I could never max a credit card to start a business, I wouldn't sleep at night.

I feel that this is a good point. The mental part of any task determines the success. There is no golden goose, as you know. The one thing that all of the top earners have in common is testing, testing and more testing. You then take it from there and find your niche. And going back to Josef's point, visualizing what you want to do is huge because then it has already happened and you are simple executing on your path to getting there. Hope that helps.

Take the time to do some thorough keyword research and then make your campaigns highly targeted towards your chosen keywords. This should increase your sales conversions.

I was making money within my first
week online selling my own ebook.
    That was six years ago.

    However, I didn't turn a profit for
    2 years. I didn't understand Adwords
and they didn't have the useful
    information that they do now.

So while I would makes sales every
day. I really didn't make any profit.

I am glad that has all changed!

Not Made For Internet Marketing - don't be pessimistic - there is lot of hype and cheating going on. Incomes are mentioned almost always inflated. And in some cases the income checks are 5 years old. Since then a lot has changed.

Honestly, no matter what route you go down with making money online, the start is always hard, but obviously as you start to earn more, it gets easier because you've already gained back links and what not. The time it takes to do all this depends on how dedicated you are, if you spend 10 hours a day working, your going to get a better result then somebody who only works 1 hour a day (Unless they just have super-duper luck) - but saying that, their luck doesn't last forever.

it all comes down to how lazy or dedicated a person is. They have to be patient and must be open to learning everyday.

Progress is slow and steady, if you would not loose the hope. Work on particular niches, which will be easy to you as well as for your audience. Devoting a good amount of time to enhance your skills and then, coming back to the race, may would take some time but will definitely push you towards success.

It's different for everyone. I started researching affiliate marketing about 4 years ago and didn't start actually making money until last June. As a matter of fact I lost money prior to that. It's all about learning the right methods. Without a doubt, you'll be much better off if you invest time in learning how to develop at least a semi-attractive site.

You're definitely right, not everyone is cut out for it, but in my experience those that work their hearts out and keep on getting up after being knocked down eventually find success in internet marketing. Keep your chin up:)

I think I gave you on another thread my opinion about saturated niche, as I believe there is no such a thing. Any niche has an endless amount space for everybody. If you decide to join a niche that has less competitors, then expect that there are also less customers.

Here are some questions that you might want to ask yourself first before choosing another niche.

    What product will you sell?
Will it solve the problems of your visitors?
Will you do everything to get targeted traffic, or just getting traffic from everywhere?
Will you constantly improve your marketing strategy?
Or you simply want to make money from Google Adsense?

If you do not have a specific goal, then you cannot create a specific plan. So no matter what niche you join in, you will still fail...

This is a really good thread.

I'd like to add, try to find a mentor. I haven't personally found an IM mentor yet but mentors have really helped me in my other ventures.

Here is your solution man, "software". Many "marketing gurus" who pull in over $10000 a month use marketing software to help them make money. I was in the same boat as you about a month ago. Doing extra work only to get little results. I would suggest investing in a good software such as an blog builder or I would suggest setting up blogs on auto-pilot so that you can link back to one main website to get higher rankers. Also, invest in a good social bookmarking site. Do not invest in the bookmarkingdemon one, but there is another on the market that is HOT. I forgot the name but if you do a quick search, you should run across it in google. Good luck and don't give up. Just know that the people making a lot of money are using helping aids or blackhat methods :)
