are sitebuilders the best thing to use or blogging templates?

Are sitebuilders or blogging templated sites like blogger or hubpages which one is best to use

For example if you wanted to make a blog, Would you be better off using something like blogger or hubpages squidoo you know or make your own using a site builder like yola, moonfruit, wix etc, i know they are both effective but i always thought it would be better to create your own as it gives you the freedom to do what you want
