I'm just wondering, Should Search engines be your main source of traffic? Well, as i run a site with an affiliate program over 99% of my sites visits are from forums and traffic sites, i'm wondering, for a normal site should Search engines be your main source of traffic, and are they?
Well... I get about 30% of my traffic from search engines, 50% direct and the rest comes from reffering websites. I think most people get their traffic from other websites or search engines so I think your alright. I've got thousands of visitors from this forum
My blog only received less than 1% of the total traffic from google. That why i don't use adword,i prefer manual link building such as posting at blog, directory.
That's right. Mine is a noncommercial, information-focused site, and 88% of the traffic comes from search engines.
think of how many clicks come from searches that lead to the forum post and person clicks on whatever they are promoting. now, what if you owned all these forums that were high ranked? it's not something to be overlooked but if you have affiliates then they are there to pretty much do the work for you. encourage article writing to your affiliates.
I say do them all - the more the better. You could really be missing out on one if you focus only on another.
I prefer to have the majority of my traffic coming from search engines as long as my ranks are stable for the keyword(s). If you have high serps for your keywords, the traffic that you can get from search engines far outnumbers that from other sources in most niches.
