are serps affected if a site's server is down / not accessible?

    are serps affected if a site's server is down / not accessible? my webhost's server is experiencing some problems, so was wondering if this might have an impact on serps...

    Usually you are fine if you are only spidered once. Google seems to not count it.

    But if it is down for any signifigant amount of time, it can definately affect them. How long has your site been down?

    it was down earlier for around 30 minutes and now it's been down for 60 minutes and still counting

    My biggest site once went down for two days (don't ask) and I had no change in SERPs once it was back up but I think there is a luck element to it.

    I wouldn't worry about a few hours as long as its a one time thing.
