I was bored today and thought of checking into stats on one of the websites I own. I found a rather surprising and glaring trend change in browser market share. I just wanted to get the word out and see what other webmasters like you thought about this. Is this just a one off for my website, or is this what other webmasters are seeing tooo? The infographic I created has a comparison of visitors web browser usage trend from 2011 to the first 12 weeks of 2012. Internet Explorer was the leading browser both in 2011 and 2012. But it's share dropped in 2012 by about 10%. This 10% was gobbled up by safari and opera combined. Look at the Visitors web browser market share comparison and please leave your comments as to what you are observing with your websites. Is there any other localized are where this can be found? Attached the infographic.
I don't think it's Safari and Opera that are taking market share at all. According to the logs on two of my sites, Chrome and Firefox are ahead by a country mile, with IE accounting for less than 10% of hits. Everyone's mileage will vary, but that's what I see.
Firefox and Chrome are steadily rising (chrome more than Firefox), IE is declining (probably because they'll kill IE6), Safari is on the rise because macs are selling pretty good (default browser...) and Opera gets more popular (considered to be an insiders tip)..
I can say that IE really sucks, i personally use chrome and most of the time that i am using it, it works without making any kinda problem.
