Hey all.. I've been scoping out this site for a while figured I would finally post something here.. I see many people in the buy/sell/trade areas and on other auction websites selling sites which connect advertising money from various affiliate programs which utilize nothing more than just pulling content from other sites rss feeds and post them as their own. Aren't these people making money off the work of others??? Obviously I am on this forum because I want to try and make a little cash from the internet but I just cant seem to get past the fact that using other peoples content to generate revenue just doesn't seem right.. What is the legal standpoint of this? Is that legal? Thanks in advance
Google is currently going though some interesting issues with regards to the way is uses other's content primary news content. Seems like this area is still evolving. I am not sure of the legal ramifications for RSS. Here is a link to Google limiting free news access: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8389896.stm
Most of them are compiled as a result of submissions, so if a feed is submitted it likely is giving reprint authorization. The legalities of syndicating RSS feeds are unclear. Here is a great article that delves into the issue: http://www.feedforall.com/rss-copyright-debate.htm
