Are results in the first month for real?

Ok, I have been working with AdSense for almost a year now. It has been my experience that anytime I stand up a new site it takes at least a week for Google to index me, and bury me somewhere in the bottom of their results. It takes me a good deal of time and work to begin to build a decent amount of traffic. I would imagine this is how it typically works.

My question is this...I read an awful lot of posts from people that are talking about how they had thousands of unique views their first month and how they made X number of dollars.

    How is this even possible?

Most probably those are not organic traffic coming from search engines. But there are also other ways like going to front page of social bookmarks like digg or stumbleupon.

Well, personally, I put up a site every day and make twenty-seven thousand a month on each site starting from six seconds after I upload the hypertext. And my traffic on that new site just brings my server to it's knees.

I think everyone sometimes pads their numbers, some more than others, and you have to take these kinds of comments with a huge grain of salt.

Besides, if they're really making Big Bucks or getting zillions of hits on their new website, what are they doing posting here?
