Academics are less likely to be independently successful in life because they have completely unrealistic expectations of reality.

There are three professions where you can be wrong 100% of the time and still earn a living: economist, astrologer, and academic.

Academics appeal to simpletons who will believe that if you put "academic" after someone's name then no proof is required.

Here's a fictional example:
Dr David Hardman, principal lecturer in learning development at London Metropolitan University, said: "There is sufficient evidence to suggest that the earth is actually flat. Light refraction from moisture in the air creates the illusion of curvature which to people of lower intelligence can appear that the earth is round when, in fact, it is not"

Seriously, I'm willing to bet that when the good doctor talks about people of higher intelligence having a "willingness to question and overturn strongly felt institutions", that he is not including himself questioning the University institution that pays him.

On the subject of atheism - why is it that the most horrible evil in the world was committed by atheists? Why are atheists more selective and bigoted in their use of data, as has been proven on DP many, many times?

 

All I see there is a bunch of pretentious allegations ( like this one Even those few who deny the existence of God, do so only by covering up this natural disposition which they were given, allowing pride and doubt to dominate their instinctive awareness of their Creator., and a bunch of Koran quotes.
As you may know, Koran is written by men and it is nothing but a piss-poor re-writing of the Jewish scriptures and a bunch of allegations backed by... nothing.

I don't think religious people are stupid. In fact most people in my life who are extremely religious are the successful ones that were always getting the highest grades at school. Although I don't get the extremists. They're not stupid, they're just really annoying.
