I ask this for ClickBank section because CB has many of those.

Are they a rip off. Do they work. Are they worth promoting. Do only stupid people buy registry cleaners.

    Stupid people??
First of all what kind of question is this for someone that wants to be an affiliate of CB and his dictionary contains such expressions.
I don't think you are at the level to promote any kind of products.

    ps. no offense

You're not competent enough to be using forums if you're going to write responses that just point out little details like that.

It's not worth promoting. There are tons of FREE registry cleaner. One of them is Ccleaner. It's one of the best. I use it and love it. And yes, people who buy registry cleaner are "non-savvy", easpecialy in computer and internet related. Are they stupid? That's different story.

People will buy anything because of a lack of knowledge. That's why information products still sell like crazy, because people want something handed to them. Because of that fact, registry cleaners will sell regardless of the fact that there are many free good options available.

There are many reasons why people by info products. For example, to save time or get guarantees. Sometimes it can be time consuming to find out needed product - there are a lot of alternatives. Which to take? How to decide? Whom to trust? If I pay money then I can expect at least some guarantees.

Free software have more chances to be a trojan.

Reg cleaners can provide some performance benefits but they are unlikely to fix anything that is broken. Having said that they are perceived as a quick fix by consumers so you will get some sales if you promote them successfully.

Having said that there overall perception is kind off scammy IMHO. I have had my direct affiliate links to one Reg cleaner red flagged by Nod32, which does kinda kill your conversion rate!

People will pay to save time, they don't have time to search or research. The scam is when the product doesn't deliver on what it promises.
