Are Prosperity Messages diverting us from the Great Commission?

Jesus said.."...All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

then why this obsession with Material prosperity messages? Are we losing focus on what Jesus commanded us to do before he comes back?

Sorry, but I think it is a modern obfuscation to do anything but take the following literally:

    Mark 10:25

From my perspective, Christ's message was a message of another world, not this one. His preaching was one of itinerant ascetism. When I took it literally, at 14, I left school and lived in the wilds fasting, praying, preparing for the Second Coming. This was his message - and given:

    Matthew 6:28

-Matthew 6:25, et seq.; I abandoned any concern for things of the material world. Crazy? Perhaps. But a literal embracing of what was said. Anything else is interventionist interpretation.

Just use the well developed Christian technique of hypocrisy to get over any bad feelings you may have about earning money :)

Sadly hypocrisy is terribly prevalent in church....And thanks to free will humans will be humans.

Myself, I think more about what God has to teach than jesus.
