If you use a professional service such as PRweb, it can be very effective. I haven't tried one myself (yet) but consider having your site splattered across news pages, blog lists, forums - all in the eyes of people in your niche, other journalists, authority sources etc. Your exposure is maximised in a very short space of time. Typically, you'll see a short spike in traffic and links; but that link exposure can be anything from nothing at all to front page of CNN, top level blogs, niche forums etc. And then you should capitalize on following up on each link source - say a blogger has written a post about your press release or it has come up in a forum somewhere; track them down and go into your story in more detail. People love reading that kind of stuff and you'll only generate more traffic and links. It's a snowball effect; but you only really have control of a fraction of it. Your job is to maximise the effectiveness of your input, follow-up and exploit any leads.
This is one of the few traffic generation sources I have yet to try. Just took a look at he pricing at www.PRweb.com that Ed7up mentioned, and the prices are really not bad. Definitely worth a try.
Thanks for all your thoughts guys... To be honest I am finding it to be a lot less effective than it was a year ago. I guess it works better if you have very newsworthy news.
Yes I am use press release. Press release is excellent way of promote your advertisement. And you will get more and more traffic. Press release submission tolerates back-links to your website and provides you a better search engine rank.
I suppose that does depend on your niche then It is something I haven't ventured into just yet but judging by the prices, it seems quite reasonable to give it a go.
Hahaha, yes, I guess the clue is in the name... I think unfortunately copywriters find it hard in some industries to create news that is actually... news.
It is definitely worth a go, but very careful, once the press release is sent out... it is sent out! No going back.
How long is a piece of string? That's a tricky question to answer since there are so many variables. What is you sites topic? Who are you submitting press releases to? Who could 'potentially' see your pr? What is the daily traffic flow of their websites... You shouldn't look to Press Releases for traffic, since they'll only give short but powerful bursts of visitors. Sustainable, long-term traffic will come from search engines, article directory submissions etc. - the value of a press release is to seed lots of 'organic links'.
If you have newsworthy topics, press releases work well generating traffic. If you don't have newsworthy topics, you will be paying a bunch of money for nothing. All the technology we have and a good old fashioned well written press release will turn heads and attract visitors.
Oh Yeah, definitely, Press Releases still work. You just have to have "News Worthy" material, otherwise, its worthless. It also depends on what websites you use to submit your Press Release. Some are Good, some are Bad, but there are others that are Great. I personally pay a nice fee for my Press Releases to be distributed across the web.
Well I prefer paid press release. At least my press release get syndicated...because some of the free press release website do not allow to put links in them..
Certainly Press release helps a lot for new sites. They not only bring in direct backlinks but also lot more links through syndication
yes i am using press release as still because these great way of website traffic and advertisement so you can start today press release if you want website popular..
