Are PR4 & PR5 Directories Making Too Much Money?

    Frankly, I am amazed.

I started looking for some sitewide links on a variety of PR4 - PR5 Directories and I contacted about 15 through their Contact Us form.
All of them had available spots under Sponsors, Supporters, ... you get the picture.

Guess what? It has been about 2 weeks now and I was contacted by only 2 webmasters. The sites I am trying to promote are new but quality Directories which
will get heavy promotion and linkage. These are my new projects I started about a month ago.

Basically, they are the sites in my sig: RegularLink.com and ForDirectoryOwners.com

My point to this thread. Are those webmasters totally not interesting in making money and are those directories just out there to run themselves and make whatever
they can on their own? Or maybe they are so busy approving paid links, that they just do not have the time to be bothered? What amazed me was the ratio of the non-response from 13 of them. They still have those spots available.
Oh, I know. We are all so busy living this "rat race" life. I also get tons of emails but I answer them asap. Even if I cannot accommodate the person, at least they will get
an explanation as to - why not.

Finally, I got so frustrated that I decided to stop begging for someone to "please take my money" , and I did what I should have done in the very beginning.
I submitted to: Alive, Aviva and Romow. All PR6 and well promoted.

yahoo and dmoz are next on my list. But those are totally different "animals".

    cheers

P.S. If you own a quality directory, please post and I will consider your offer, but keep in mind, I am very picky. :D

In order to buy site wide links on Directories, you need to be in touch with Link Sales forums here on DP. Each day there are new offers from the directory owners.

Also, have a look on Aviva's Strongest Directories page, i hope it will help you to find some quality directories among those strongest directories.

Look at my sig. we run network of quality paid directories, you can submit there too, also PM me i will let you know if we got any site wide spots available on our directories.

I would like to bet that in as many as half of directories have contact forms that don't work. As by default when you setup a directory with a free template the contact form only works when the directory owner has correctly set it up to direct mail to their address.

Very true, and also many will have setup the directory using a now defunct hotmail or yahoo address for example, I guess if their directory was worth submitting to this is the kind of thing they would ensure was working correctly, quality directories are always easily contactable.

I do have some PR 4 and some PR 5 directories.

One of my best earning ones is Ruuz.com

But not selling sitewides on it. It depends on some webmasters as they don't want more sitewides going out of their directories.

    TO ALL THAT POSTED:

Not only I would like to thank you all for your suggestions and opinions but to my pleasant surprise, for the submissions to RegularLink.com and advertising orders on ForDirectoryOwners.com. All are being processed and should be completed in a few hours.

As a special thanks to all, please feel free to submit a Free Link to FreeUrlLink.com. Just mention "DP" in the last field ("Notes" field on the submission page) and I will approve them by Monday.

KEEP IN MIND: This particular directory is set up for users to create their own unique sub-categories with the ability to submit to them immediately. This is why there is so few of them at this point. So feel free to suggest a category and submit to it. This is an experiment I have been running and I must say it is doing well. I'd like to see how unique the final structure will be. I obviously do moderate and remove the annoying submissions (don't we get them all), but so far the auto submitters cannot get to me yet, since there is a spam filter and the script itself is fairly new to the English speaking world.

Thanks again and rest assured that my directories will be promoted like hell. ;) I normally reinvest 35% from profit, however at the start up of a new dir, I devote about 70% back into the promotion.

My directory is something different from other directories you would have come across.
I dont think you will be able upload logo, images, products to sell or buy or services offered , map ... with other directories.

I have deep link mode in my directory as well.

I do lot of SEO to make it light weight and strong web directory.

Let me see if you consider my directory.

Even though open spots are visible, some may not be selling more ( and forgot the update the page)
Link sales section is a fast way of getting sitewide directory links.

Honestly, I do not remember. I just realized that only 2-3 did respond at all.
