Are political blogs profitable?

I know it depends on a lot of things, but what's the general thought about political blogs? If profitability is important, are they best avoided?

I own a couple of political blogs. And yes they can be profitable.

I've got a blog dedicated to one of the presidential candidates and I have been getting about $.40 a day in AdSense.

I can't imagine clicks will be too high on political subjects. I wonder wheat type of ads tadsense serves on such content sites.

I believe they could be fruitful target for link baiting (check out what Shoemoney did).

With bait... comes traffic, so I suppose they can be profitable.

For me, they are always information about whichever book the candidate is trying to sell or the newsletter they want you to sign up for. There are some other third party "grass roots" organizations that try to get you to sign up as well.
