Are Pixel sites worth getting a link on

    Hi all,

I got an email from a pixel site saying that it has a Google Page Rank of 4 and it would be worth spending $1 to get my site on a PR4 site.

    If i did would i be wasting a $1?

    thanks,

    regards

You've probably wasted $1 in the time you've taken out of your day to think about it! Give the chap a break and give him a dollar!!

No, they're not. Keep your dollar or give it to a homeless person.

the pixel idea was great on the 1st site, and people like to be on pixel site, but other than search engines, I can't really see people looking at pxiels sites when searching for sepcific service/info.

I don't see search engines paying any attention to them either. FWIW, Matt Cutts did point out that no one was getting any PR passed from the million dollar page.

It is ture that no PR will pass. However, if site is popular and has high traffic, it worth a few buck to put a link there

I doubt they are selling space for just 1 px. MDHP's minimum was 100 px. I got a link there right near the start which was a good benefit but as time went on the number of referrals got slower. The traffic did increase a lot to MDHP but because of the shear amount of ads getting added the overall trend seemed to drop.

Not for SEO purposes. Image links pass little PR, and it will be diluted by all the other pixels.

It may bring traffic, if you use an interesting image.

IMHO, a fad. However, I am seeing a trend come around where people feature a handful of pixels across a footer or header which could be purchased, not an entire site devoted to it though.

I think the header pixel thing is a good idea, course, I could be dead wrong.

Anyone worried that SEs will begin viewing these pixel advertising sites as link farms? Thus hurting the sites that are advertised.

IMHO, pixel ads are worthless now. I'm pretty sure this onemilliondollarhomepage is forgotten by many now.

I think it useless and worthless, just fashioned.

    1. Link is not anchor text, just a picture
    2. Too many outbound links.
    3. Useless to drive traffics from that pixel

    Cheers,

No doubt in the launch of the site it was beneficial to have a pixel on the site, but now...why go back? There was no development of the site further to increase traffic past the initial buzz.

Save your dollar and buy a coke.

As I said before, it was a great idea... ONCE.

It's like the hula hoop or the pet rock. Would anyone really want to buy a hoola hoop, or a hula heap, or a pet rack?

    (well, maybe the pet rack...)

When did matt curtis say no PR was passed? Was it in his blog? I missed that.

It was in his (Matt Cutts) interview with SEOBook (Aaron Wall):
